When booking a flight that someone else is paying for (because you are broke and they felt sorry for you), how appropriate is it to spontaneously add on a whole extra leg so that you can also go visit some friends on the other side of the country on your way home?
A. Not appropriate.
B. Not appropriate.
C. Not appropriate, and if the person paying for your flight is StyleyGeek, she doesn't want to be your friend anymore.
That is unbelievably cheeky.
ReplyDeleteD. All of the above.
ReplyDeleteWTF?
The gall of some people is absolutely breathtaking. This is not a friend, this is a person you don't need in your life.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely not cool
ReplyDeleteThis wasn't by any chance the visiting lecturer who made you staple all the handouts, was it? It seems to me that there can't be too many people around who are that brazen...
ReplyDeleteAppropriate if it is me and my mom is paying :) (though I've never done that). very rude for everyone else! On your credit card?
ReplyDeleteYup, on my card. That's how they can afford the extra leg, Wolfa.
ReplyDeleteAnd Rebecca, it's not someone I can't have in my life. It's my mother.
So Shrinky, does that work too? It being my mother and me paying?
Oh wow. I'm so sorry. If it's any consolation, my mother does things on a regular basis that make me want to kill her - in a manner of speaking, of course. In your place, if I couldn't make her change the ticket back to what it was supposed to be, I would at least vent somewhat by telling her off about it. I know that all our mother-daughter relationships are different, though. Mine happens to be extremely volatile.
ReplyDeleteI think changing it back would end up costing me nearly the same, since there are large fees involved in changing these flights, and the changes would involve two separate legs, so two separate lots of fees.
ReplyDeleteFortunately, my mother-in-law (who is travelling with her and who I am not paying for) has just offered to cover the extra cost.
I feel bad for liking my mother-in-law more than I like my mother.
Yeah, without asking. Maybe asking would have been worse, though. I would probably have said no and then felt mean and guilty for ages. Or said yes and felt bitter but with no one to blame. This way I get to be bitter AND whine.
ReplyDeleteyeah - I'd have to vote for D too.
ReplyDeleteIts pretty difficult when its family
