Christmas Eve is not a good time to discover that weevils have infested everything in your kitchen.
To tomorrow's dinner guests, if you're reading this: are you sure you still want to come and eat with us? There may be a little bit of extra protein in your meal...
Just tell them it's an old swedish winter tradition begun to augment protein content of sparse winter fare....
ReplyDeleteUGH! The idea of going to the grocery store on Christmas Eve is terrifying. That's where I always lose it. All year I'm successful at staying on the "Nice" list, and then some cow cuts in front of me on the express line, and "Naughty" list, here I come!
ReplyDeleteI hope everything works out for the best, and that your guests are not blog friends, so they hear no weevil.
Merry Christmas!
Vinny, you made me groan out loud :)
ReplyDeleteFortunately (unfortunately?) the grocery shop was already closed by the time we discovered the problem.
Weevils it will be :S
If they're only in the powdery/flour type stuff, they can be sifted out with a seive or flour sifter.

ReplyDeleteThey are in EVERYTHING. They even cocooned themselves on the rice paper.
ReplyDeleteWe chucked out the worst-infested stuff. Fortunately most of what is on the menu for tonight is fresh food in the fridge. We'll work something out for the rest.
