You can live in my cupboards. I can move my office out of my spare room and you can have it if you like. There is plenty of space in my living area for my desk and stuff!
If you are who I think you are, Consultartrix, you may regret making that offer :) More seriously, though, if you hear of anything going in your building, we might be interested.
Twirly, I think there is a reasonable chance of an investor buying the place (maybe 50% chance). But our rent hasn't changed in the last two years, while the rest of this suburb has increased hugely. So I suspect anyone who buys will want to raise the rent.
The rent prices in the inner north (i.e this suburb and all neighbouring suburbs: anything up to 30 mins easy cycle from university) are pretty scary right now. I looked today and saw nothing advertised for anything under $50 per week more than we are paying, and most of them were around $90 more per week. That adds up pretty quickly! So the options may be: (1) move into a 1-bedroom place instead of 2, or (2) live less central.
We received the same phone call a few years ago - our solution: we bought the place ourselves. It's not far from where you live - the current tenants' lease ends in January.... If you're still looking then, let me know.
You guys have seriously offended some ancient, one-eyed, iron helmeted germanic god of rental housing, right?
Told you you should have moved in with me and Stellar_muddle - we never have any landlord trouble because I intimidate them immediately they've let me sign the lease.
Yes, but if we had moved in with you, we would still be in the shit, just sooner, because you and Stellar Muddle would have buggered off to NZ, leaving us searching for random flatmates. And no one likes random flatmates. Least of all, us.
you can live in my cupboard! you know where i live - look it up - see if you can get a job :)
ReplyDeleteany chance the new owner will rent to you?
It must be Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteAnd you are most certainly welcome in my cupboard.

ReplyDeleteWow, thanks Liina! If we are looking in January, I'll bear that in mind!
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks to everyone for the cupboard offers. It would be a bit of a long commute, but you never know how desperate we'll get!
