When you start feeling the need to discuss your prostate problems at departmental meetings, it's time to retire.

    yeah, actually I know an academic with prostate cancer who let everyone know that he would be missing days due to aggressive chemo. It was a chatty, positive email and very thoughtful to let people know that he would be a bit unreliable. Maybe a bit different to your prostate issue.

  7. Beej, I think that's totally different from someone just randomly mentioning that they have to pee a lot and complaining about what a rectal exam is like.
