Well, hypothetically, I wouldn't want to go there. I think if I were in that (completely hypothetical) situation, I (hypothetically) would throw away my keyboard and buy a new one :)
In that case, I'd say you just have to hope for the best and pretend you didn't see this photo. I once tried to take my laptop keys off for cleaning and found (after prying the first one off) that unlike normal keyboard keys, they aren't MEANT to come off. They only do so when you break a little plastic hinge.
So don't get too enthusiastic with your laptop unless you know what you're doing!
Yep. I heard a report a while ago that while most people are concerned about getting germs on their hands from toilet handles, doorknobs, and such, the places that actually harbor the most germs are computer keyboards and phone keypads. Ugh!
This is why I keep a container of Clorox Antibacterial Wipes in my office...that way, when my office mates are sick I can wipe down the computer keyboard, phone, and door handle. Although, this doesn't help those nasty crumbs underneath the keys :-(. Have any of you tried using those canisters of compressed air?
Ewwwwwww.
ReplyDeleteWhat if you've had your computer for longer than a year and you've never cleaned it? Eeeeewwwwwwwwwwww!
Just speaking hypothetically, are you?

Also hypothetically, what if you have a laptop and therefore can't throw away the keyboard?

ReplyDeleteI have never cleaned a keyboard, except when I have spilled alcoholic beverages on them.
ReplyDeleteAnd if I NEVER clean underneath my keyboard? I mean, it's working, right? Why should I clean it?
ReplyDelete(Also, I'm scared.)
Or another solution would be to eat over a plate instead of your keyboard. Come on kids, elbows off the table!
